Holiday Light Installation

The best-looking roofline on the street — installed, timer-set, and taken down.

Winter

A Nova Scotia December is a scheduling problem: the weekend you plan to hang lights is the weekend it rains sideways, freezes, or nor'easters. Professional installation solves it — your display goes up in November before the freeze, on clips that survive 100 km/h gusts, with commercial-grade warm-white LEDs and a timer set to the darkness of the season.

In January, we come back and take it all down, packed and labelled for next year. You never climb a ladder on ice; your lights never tangle in a bin; your house simply looks like the holidays, every year, with zero effort.

Install in November. Because December weather is not your friend.

The cardinal rule of holiday lights in this province: get them up before the freeze. Ladder work in December in Halifax means ice, wind, or a rain-soaked roof — every year the season's first serious freeze lands right when the lights "should" go up. We schedule installs through November, on purpose, while roofs are dry and clips seat properly. By the time the storm season peaks, your display is up, timer-set, and storm-strapped.

Wind is the design constraint nobody thinks about until it's 2 a.m.: nor'easter gusts peel cheap clip systems off rooflines across whole neighbourhoods. We use commercial clips rated for coastal wind, secure every run at intervals that account for gust loading, and do a mid-season check after the first big blow. Lights that end up in your neighbour's yard are not a design choice.

And removal — the step everyone dreads — is the one that actually protects your investment. Lights left up until March get sun-bleached, wind-whipped, and frozen into the eaves; packed dry in January they last years. Our take-down service includes packing and labelling, so next November is a re-install, not a re-design.

Installs run November 1 through mid-December (early November is the sweet spot — dry roofs, calm days). Removals run the first two weeks of January. Bookings open in September and the best slots are gone by Halloween.

Common questions

When should I book?

September to mid-October for the best November slots. We install through November and into early December while the weather allows, but the dry-roof, calm-day windows disappear fast once storm season starts. The display you want is the one booked early.

Do you supply the lights or do I?

We supply commercial-grade warm-white LEDs as the standard — better colour, better waterproofing, and rated for coastal winters. If you have a cherished display of your own, we'll install yours; we'll flag anything that won't survive the season honestly.

Will they survive a nor'easter?

That's the engineering brief. Commercial clips rated for high wind, runs secured at gust-interval spacing, and a mid-season check after the first big storm to re-seat anything the weather tested. It's why our displays are still up in February while the DIY sets are in trees.

What happens in January?

We remove everything in the first two weeks of January — before lights freeze into the eaves and before UV starts bleaching them. Everything is packed and labelled; add storage and we keep it until next season, when a returning-client re-install is faster and cheaper than a first install.

Is removal really included?

Yes — install, storm check, and removal are one price. The "holiday lights" trade has a reputation for vanishing in January; ours is built on the opposite. The removal is what protects the product you paid for.
