Pressure Washing
Ten years of grime gone in an afternoon.
Between winter road salt, spring pollen, and the black damp of coastal fog, Nova Scotia surfaces age faster than almost anywhere in Canada. Pressure washing is the fastest, cheapest transformation your property can buy — a driveway or deck can look ten years younger in an afternoon.
The craft is in what you don't damage: soft-wash for siding and cedar, the right nozzle and pressure for concrete, deck boards, and composite, and proper containment so detergents and blast-water don't end up in your flower beds or the harbour.

Salt, fog, and black algae — the Nova Scotia grime file
Halifax winters lay down a heavy salt mix on driveways and walkways for five months straight. Salt doesn't just look white on concrete — it gets into the pores, holds moisture, and drives the freeze-thaw spalling that pits and flakes the surface year after year. A spring pressure wash with a proper salt rinse isn't cosmetic here; it's maintenance that extends the life of your concrete.
The other culprit is moisture. Coastal fog and long damp autumns make north-facing siding, shaded decks, and anything under trees a perfect home for gloeocapsa — the black algae streaks you see on so many roofs and walls — plus green algae and moss. Soft-washing with the right detergent kills the organism, not just the stain, so the clean lasts a full season instead of six weeks.
One caution that matters: too much pressure is worse than none. High PSI on cedar strips the soft grain, on vinyl siding it drives water behind the panels, and on old mortar it can cut the joint right out. Every surface on your property gets a matched approach — that's the whole trade.

How we work
Best scheduled April through November — the classic combo is a spring wash to strip winter salt and grime, and a fall wash before the damp sets in. Deck and siding washes shine mid-summer before you spend the season outside.
Common questions
Will pressure washing damage my siding or deck?
Not the way we do it. Siding gets a soft-wash — detergent does the work, water at garden-hose-plus pressure rinses it. Cedar and composite decks get a fan-tip at calibrated PSI that cleans the fiber without stripping it. We choose the method per surface, and we show you the plan before we start.
Can you remove the salt stains on my concrete driveway?
Almost always, yes — white salt residue and general winter grime lift dramatically. Severe pitting (actual surface flaking from years of freeze-thaw) is permanent damage we can't wash away, but we can stop the salt driving it and recommend a sealer. Honest answer on sight, every time.
Is it safe for my plants, kids, and pets?
We pre-wet and cover planting beds, use biodegradable detergents, rinse everything down after, and manage runoff so nothing pools where kids and pets play. Surfaces are safe to use as soon as they're dry.
How often should a house be washed in Nova Scotia?
Most homes near trees or water do best on an annual cycle; open, sun-baked properties can stretch to every 18–24 months. North walls under shade are the first to go green — some clients have us hit those twice a year.
What's the best time of year to book?
April–May is the classic slot: winter salt off, pollen wash-in June, and you're clean for the whole outdoor season. September–October is the second window, before fall damp re-greens everything. Bundle driveway + house + deck in one visit for the best rate.
