Snow Removal
Cleared before your alarm goes off.
A Nova Scotia winter is measured in nor'easters, freezing rain, and the 4 a.m. scrape of your neighbour's DIY plow blade. A Total Care seasonal snow contract replaces all of it: your driveway and walkways cleared to pavement during and after every storm, salt where ice forms, and zero per-storm invoices.
One flat seasonal price, one crew accountable, one standard: when the storm ends, you're already cleared. No calling around at 6 a.m., no "we'll get to you tomorrow," no shovelling the end of the driveway the plow left you.

Winter in HRM is its own operating manual
Halifax averages well over a metre of snow a season, but it never arrives politely — it comes as back-to-back nor'easters, as freezing rain that turns every surface into glass, and as rapid freeze-thaw cycles where a Tuesday rainstorm becomes a Wednesday ice rink. A real winter service here is built for all three patterns, not just the pretty powder days.
Municipal realities matter too. HRM's overnight winter parking ban runs December 1 through March 31: on declared nights, cars must be off-street so plows can clear — and when the plow goes by, it leaves the famous windrow blocking your driveway exit. Our contracts include opening that ridge as part of the service, not as an upsell.
Ice is where Nova Scotia winters actually hurt people. Freezing rain and the freeze-thaw cycle put a glaze on slopes, north-facing steps, and walkways long after the snow is gone. Our standard includes ice management on those zones as a core part of the contract — because a cleared driveway you can't safely walk to is not a cleared driveway.
Pricing guide
| Scope | Typical NS range |
|---|---|
| Residential seasonal contract (standard double driveway) | $400 – $900 |
| Single-car / townhouse driveway (seasonal) | $350 – $650 |
| Long / rural driveways (seasonal) | quoted per property |
| Per-push (on-demand, per event) | $40 – $80 |
| Commercial lots & strata routes | custom route pricing |
| Add-on: back deck / secondary walkways | $75 – $150 / season |
Seasonal pricing depends on driveway length, surface, slope, and town. Contract holders get priority after storms — when it snows for a week straight, seasonal clients never wait.
How we work
Contracts run December 1 through March 31, aligned with HRM's winter parking ban season. Early-bird pricing opens in September and the roster fills by November — storm-day on-demand service is available when capacity allows, but seasonal clients come first.
Common questions
When will you show up after a storm?
Overnight storms are cleared before the morning commute — typically between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. for residential routes. Storms that run through the day get a clearing pass during the event and a final pass once it ends. You'll always know the plan: we message before, during, and after big events.
What happens when the city plow blocks my driveway?
It's included. Our final pass happens after the street plow, and the windrow it leaves at the end of your driveway gets opened as part of the contract. On heavy back-to-back storm days, windrows are cleared within the same event cycle — you never shovel your own exit.
Seasonal contract vs. paying per storm — which is better?
In a normal Nova Scotia winter, seasonal wins: one price, unlimited storms, and priority service in the busiest weeks. Per-push makes sense for cottages and rarely-used properties. In a light winter a seasonal contract may cost more per storm — that's the insurance you're buying: the winter of six nor'easters in three weeks is when per-push clients can't find a truck.
Do you salt or just plow?
Both, where appropriate. Salt goes on slopes, steps, and ice-prone shaded zones; we don't blanket-salt an entire property by default. Freezing-rain events get anti-ice treatment where temperatures and surface allow — safety first, chemistry second.
What if it barely snows this winter?
You've paid for capacity, not snowfall: crews, trucks, fuel, and priority on standby no matter what falls. In the rare low-snow season, contract clients keep full ice management and priority booking for spring — and early-bird pricing the following year.
